We have been at the forefront of mobile innovation for the last 20 years. Some of our many industry firsts include: the first Bluetooth notebook; the first pen tablet to integrate WLAN; and the first high-end mobile workstation for computer aided design.
More recently we launched the world’s first professional notebook with embedded UMTS/HSDPA connectivity – the LIFEBOOK Q Series – and are now the first IT supplier with a full range of embedded UMTS products.
We were also the first to demonstrate a notebook supporting the new UMTS standard HSUPA – the LIFEBOOK P7230. This new connectivity protocol takes wireless broadband to the next level, enabling VoIP telephony, video streaming and the rapid exchange of large email attachments. HSUPA is now available on a selection of our professional notebooks.
Designs continue to evolve towards more robust security concepts, smaller footprints, higher performance, longer battery lives and greater manageability. The LIFEBOOK S6410 weighs in at just 1.7kg and is the lightest 13.3-inch notebook with modular bay on the market.
With the LIFEBOOK S6410, we were also one of the first manufacturers to launch a notebook with 64GB Solid State Disc (SSD). Flash-based SSDs offer mobility advantages in comparison with regular disk-based hard drives, since they consume less power and reduce start-up times.
We have developed our first consumer notebook with embedded UMTS – the AMILO Si 1848+u, and launched the AMILO Xa 1526 – a fantastic multimedia powerhouse and the first consumer notebook to leverage AMD LIVE! Technology. The AMILO Xi 1547 is our first notebook with HD-DVD playback capabilities for high-resolution viewing and graphics performance.
