Energy efficiency is a cornerstone of Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ environmental strategy. While other companies have jumped on the bandwagon to meet the future requirements based on the European Directive 2005/32/EC forJuly 2007 European Energy using Products (EuP) requirements, Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ industry lead was established back in 1993 when it was awarded Blue Angel certification for its PCs, due in part for meeting strict energy consumption guidelines. More recently, the company’s leadership reached new heights with the unveiling of the ESPRIMO professional PC range in 2005, replete with an unprecedented array of energy savings features. The most recent next product launches will include a power supply compliant with Energy Star 4.0 coming into effect in July 2007. Fujitsu Siemens Computers continues to strengthen and extended energy savings measures across its professional product portfolio, from notebook computers and professional PCs to enterprise servers and data storage devices.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has adopted a company-wide strategy to define power requirements and save energy at every step of the development process so that intelligent and innovative features are built in to every product. This strategy is enforced by the company’s strict in-house development Guideline FSC03230 called ’Environmentally conscious product design and development’. From achieving industry-beating energy consumption in standby mode to intuitive central control systems (such as the systems management software DeskView) that can remotely fine-tune energy settings, Fujitsu Siemens Computers products are designed save energy at every stage of computing.
The company’s strategy even extends to the variables needed to produce and manufacture a product, such as electricity, gas, water, air, refuse and the transportation of components. In each area, strict steps have been taken to minimise the consumption of energy and other limited natural resources.
