Digital or analog
If you have a digital video camera the best way to download your footage is by using a FireWire port. Once the hardware is in place, you’ll need to attach the cables to connect the camera and computer. The software bundled with the camera or your editing software will walk you through getting the video out of the camera and into the computer.
If you own an analogue camera and have your video material on VHS tapes then you need to convert it to a digital format. Performing analog capture requires a device to take video input from its original format and convert it to digital data. Once you have captured the video footage onto your PC, it is time to start editing.
