 | Police Force of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany The German Police Force of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) planned to expand their system called M1, which runs the entire range of business operations, including budgeting, warehousing, procurement, inventory and stock management, controlling, and cost and service accounting, to include all of their districts. The Police Force decided to use a centralized database to keep maintenance personnel to a minimum and Intel-based hardware to reduce hardware costs. A cost analysis of using Oracle9i Real Application Clusters running on Linux clusters with Fujitsu Siemens hardware showed that significant yearly savings can be achieved with this Oracle/Linux solution. |
