CCP-OSI/NEA

Offers transport protocols that enable PRIMEPOWER systems to be integrated into ISO/OSI and TRANSDATA NEA networks

ISO 8073 Class 0 and Class 2

The ISO/OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) standards form the communications platform for many applications commonly used on the market, e.g. X.400 e-mail, FTAM file transfer and EDIFACT. CCP-OSI/NEA provides the connection protocols and services for transport layer 4 of the OSI 7-layer model. CCP-OSI/NEA supports communication via X.25 networks, telephone networks and ISDN.

The OSI protocols are used not only by telecommunications companies, health insurance companies and the civil service but, due to their extended functionality and high levels of security, in other sectors as well.

TRANSDATA NEA

The NEA communications architecture was defined by Siemens in 1975. Its layer structure corresponds largely to that of the OSI architecture defined much later.

NEA offers high-speed data exchange between applications on BS2000, PDN and PRIMEPOWER models running Solaris, on RM/MX systems running Reliant UNIX and SINIX, and on systems from other vendors, e.g. for file transfer and terminal emulation.

With CCP-OSI/NEA, the connectionless protocol NEAN (NEA network layer protocol) is used for the network layer, the NEATE protocol (NEA end-to-end transport protocol) for the transport layer.

Measurements show that file transfer via NEA still offers the best performance in the network.
