| | PRIMERGY BladeFrame |
The server solution for unique flexibility in your Data Center |
MORE ADAPTABLE IT, GREATER COMPETITIVE EDGE | |
|
Our Dynamic Data Center™ strategy focuses on making enterprise IT more flexible, reliable and efficient. With PRIMERGY BladeFrame, customers can achieve significant improvements with regard to all three aspects.
More efficiency Customers who work with PRIMERGY BladeFrame confirm that they have succeeded in reducing their investments by more than half and slashing the total cost of ownership for business-critical applications by up to 75 percent.
Reduced complexity Thanks to the virtualization of the I/O components of the individual computer nodes, PRIMERGY BladeFrame automatically requires fewer physical components than traditional systems. This is demonstrated by a comparison between a PRIMERGY BladeFrame solution equipped with 24 pBlades and a conventional installation. Cables, real I/O adapters and other network connections are reduced by a factor of 6. And that makes one thing obvious: infrastructures are greatly simplified, and drastic savings in investment costs and the total cost of ownership can be achieved.
Improved server utilization With PRIMERGY BladeFrame, enterprises can say goodbye to one costly necessity – designing application environments for maximum anticipated loads. Since a dynamic server pool is available that, on top of everything, can include pBlades equipped with varying CPU and memory resources, it’s no problem to provide business processes with optimum capacity at any time. Whether an application needs two pBlades in the morning, three at midday and just one for the rest of the day, there’s no more hassle involved. The required response times can be ensured with little effort, and on the whole, utilization of today’s existing resources in the Intel®/AMD® server world can be increased a typical 15 to 20 percent to up to 80 percent.
Streamlined management PRIMERGY BladeFrame’s central management instance puts administrators in the driver’s seat and enables them to flexibly control the virtualized resources of the entire server pool with the aid of extensive automation functions.
Reduced number of servers Dedicated infrastructures for individual applications that require development, test and productive systems, for example, are no longer required when PRIMERGY BladeFrame is deployed. The handling is much less complicated because only the respective images of an application on a server from the pool have to be provided. And the situation with ensuring high availability has seen a similar drastic improvement. Basically, a ratio of n:1 now applies instead of the 1:1 ratio between servers and applications.
Flexible failover PRIMERGY BladeFrame eliminates the need for a 1:1 ratio between production servers and failover servers. A backup or failover server does not have to have the same configuration as a production server, either. As a result, it is possible to protect several production servers with a single server instance or a small pool of servers. Since the solution’s control software has the relevant functions, there is also no need for special high-availability software.
Disaster Recovery PRIMERGY BladeFrame offers attractive options for protecting a number of production locations. Unlike traditional scenarios, identical servers do not have to be kept at two locations. In order to reconfigure a server infrastructure at the disaster recovery site, in the event of a disaster, the PRIMERGY BladeFrame failover system needs the current configuration and network infrastructure definition of every production site. In this way, the availability of the individual business process can be ensured within a matter of minutes, and during normal operation, the failover system can be used for other tasks.
More flexibility PRIMERGY BladeFrame improves IT responsiveness to business requirements and the reliability of provisioning IT services. From a company’s point of view, the ability to deploy applications much faster than before plays a key role here. The time span between a new business idea and its being mapped in a functioning business process has shortened dramatically, thus allowing for a competitive edge that is reflected in earnings and market shares or greater customer loyalty. Just as vital as this strategic dimension of greater IT responsiveness is the operational dimension in daily operations, with capacity on demand for applications and extensive, readily implementable ways of ensuring business continuity. |
